Taking Time

Taking time to paint. What a novel idea. Relax, think about what you are painting, what do you want it to say? It turns out that Artists are onto something when they take weeks, months or sometimes years when painting a masterpiece. I am learning there is a process to oil painting. Part I - start with a lot of turpentine and a little paint. Let dry in between and think about the piece over and over. Part II - a little heavier with the paint and again, let dry and think about the piece before starting Part III - almost all paint and no turpentine. Yep, its a layering thing, a thinking thing, a connecting thing.
Here is a painting I am working on by process of drawing then using a lot of turpentine (in my case turpenoid) and a little paint.

That's really cool, showing the painting step by step. The texture of the hair looks awesome! And I like the fluidity of her back and neck. It gives the painting a movement that is pleasing to look at. Makes you want to lean with her. Definitely show us more as you paint, and tell us all about your class!
